DT Dijkstra’s potato grading lines conquer the UK

In 2010, DT Dijkstra delivered a grading line to JSR, supplier to various customers, including Walkers chips. JSR has 3,600 hectares of land under cultivation, making it one of the largest family businesses in arable farming in England. The company is known for its excellent quality and reputation in potato processing and packing. The grading results JSR is achieving with its new grading line are so good that this has yielded a number of new customers for DT Dijkstra in a very short time.

The open day at JSR early this year attracted a great many interested parties, most of whom were very enthusiastic about the accurate grading, while the capacity is unaffected. These positive sounds about DT Dijkstra’s grading line spread rapidly and, after the open day, even more potential customers came to look at the grading line.

Higher returns

During these visits, rejected batches of potatoes were again fed into the line. An average of 20% to 25% of these potatoes were graded as being of deliverable dimensions after all. And in some cases, this percentage was as high as 30%. This high return means that the payback period of the total investment is even shorter. As a result, DT Dijkstra was able to note a number of new customers.
